Biography: Margaret was a widow of Liverpool. She had received three shillings from two men also convicted, that belonged to a John Gillespie. She had previously served a sentence of imprisonment at Liverpool for a similar offence. After six weeks in jail at Lancaster, Margaret was meant to be sent with the Maria convicts in March and was on the list of female prisoners who left Lancaster Castle for the ship on the 17th but she does not appear on the ship’s indent.

On arrival at the ship, she was rejected on the grounds of being unfit for transportation due to her health and was returned to jail (presumably Millbank in London). She was advised in the July, that should she be pardoned on the basis of her health, she should seek sureties from a respectable person that she would not again return to Liverpool. Margaret was pardoned by the Prince Regent 11 August 1818 and freed.
