Biography: Ellen had stolen a hat, cloak and a petticoat and had used the alias Esther Eccles. She was from Rishton near Blackburn.
Ellen was still thieving onboard ship and was punished with seven lashes.
Soon after arrival, Ellen had a relationship with seaman James Wilson (HMS Sirius) and they had a daughter, Mary Ann, in 1789. In early 1790 the family were sent on to Norfolk Island but the relationship soon broke apart. Ellen had a son, Henry, in 1791 (father unknown) and lost her young daughter, who died in 1792. Ellen had another daughter, also named Mary Ann for her earlier in 1795 (father unknown). Her son Henry sailed for Sydney in 1796 onboard Reliance.
Ellen began a relationship and had three more daughters (Ann, Elizabeth and Frances) with free convict Thomas Guy (ship- Matilda) on Norfolk island between 1800 and 1805. They were evacuated to Van Diemens Land in 1808 onboard the City of Edinburgh. Eleanor and Thomas married at New Norfolk in May 1812 and lived at The Rocks there. They were issued with land which they farmed and Thomas was a constable until 1822.
Ellen died of natural causes on the 9th November 1839 aged about 70 and was buried at Back River Cemetery, New Norfolk
