Biography: Catherine was the wife of John Welch. Catherine was assigned as a servant on arrival and was recorded as such in 1819. In 1820, the muster notes her as single at Sydney.
Catherine’s time in Australia was brief; only two years after arriving she died, aged 32 on the 2 November 1820 at the Liverpool hospital after suffering from fits. She was buried the following day in what is now the Liverpool Pioneers’ Memorial Park.
