Biography: Mary (surname also written as Thompson) was a widowed silk weaver/ bobbin winder from Manchester. She had stolen a gown which was her fourth conviction. Whilst in Lancaster castle prior to transportation, she was described as being in good health. On arrival, she was further noted as being 4ft 9 and had left three children back in Manchester.

In 1828, Mary was living and working as a servant for William Dun at Duninald, Paterson (Plains) in the Hunter Valley.

Mary received her certificate of freedom in September 1830. At this time her description stated she was now aged 50, with a dark/sallow complexion, dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. After this time, I haven’t found any further record of her.
