Biography: Mary was from Manchester and had taken in stolen goods.

Mary left Lancaster Castle on the 14th March 1818 and was put on board ship three days later on the 17th at Deptford. Whilst at sea she sprained her back; she was given turpentine oil. Later on in the voyage, she was recorded as experiencing sickness for which she was given antimony. Shortly after arrival she was sent to Van Diemen’s Land onboard the Elizabeth Henrietta. At arrival, Mary was initially put in the female factory but soon after was assigned to be a servant to a Mrs Kable. She then worked for a Mr Kitchen in 1820 and was still working as a servant in 1821.

Mary was recorded as the wife of ‘Taylor’ (no marriage records so presumed to be a common law relationship) when in May 1825, she stole a hat belonging to a John French and was sent to trial at the Quarter Sessions. Details beyond this time are scarce.
