Biography: Mary was a single woman of Manchester. Along with a Thomas Wardle, they had stolen braces and spectacles from a Robert Bridge at Manchester. She left Lancaster and was put on board ship on the 18th March. Whilst at sea, the ship’s surgeon recorded that Mary had a tooth extracted onboard.

Upon arrival, Mary was assigned to be a servant for a Henry Parker and was transferred to Van Diemen’s Land on the Elizabeth Henrietta. Mary’s Tasmanian conduct record is blank and there is no sign of her gaining a certificate of freedom. The years 1818 and 1819 list Mary as a servant, whilst in 1820 she was in the female factory. Mary married George Phipps (ship- Morley) in 1819. However, with no further records of Mary after 1821, and George remarrying in 1823, it would appear Mary died at some point between those dates, aged around 38.
