Biography: Elizabeth had stolen clothing at Manchester.

For the much of her early years in the colony, Elizabeth remained single and was a washerwoman. She was free by 1814. From 1821 she was noted as a widow, suggesting she had left a husband behind in Manchester who was perhaps now deceased. From 1825, Elizabeth was recorded as the (common-law) wife of life convict Robert Bryers/Briers/Briars (ship- Fortune) and they lived at Minto. The couple finally married in May 1829 at St Pauls, Cobbitty, by which point, Elizabeth was 56 years old. The marriage permission was given by Willow Howe Esq, pastoralist of Glenlee who both were assigned to, who said they were ‘both deserving characters’. Sadly their marriage was very short when Robert died the following year. Elizabeth passed away at Bong Bong and was buried at All Saints Sutton Forest in June 1836.

However, this death record is also shared by Elizabeth Robinson (nee Harris) who arrived on Indispensible in 1796 so we cannot be 100% certain we have the correct death date for our Elizabeth.
