Biography: Along with Mary Crawley, Mary Hill and three other young men, they assaulted and robbed Patrick Griffiths of his pocketwatch on the highway at Liverpool. The death sentences they received were reprieved but they were to be transported for life. They were sent to Millbank jail in London from where Martha was described as single, a servant, 4ft 11 inches tall, a mole on left arm, dark hair, fair complexion and brown eyes. Martha would have soon seen her accomplice Mary Hill leave and be transported (her jail report being very bad). However, both herself and second accomplice Mary Crawley, were pardoned and discharged on the 29th April 1824.
