Biography: Elizabeth (or Betty) was the wife of John Mitchell of Manchester. She had stolen clothing at Manchester. She had a long wait of almost two years after conviction before a ship was available.

Months after arrival, in January 1811 Betty remarried time served convict Thomas Burn (Ship- Canada) at St John’s Parramatta. Elizabeth Buffey and her common law husband Joseph were witnesses to their marriage. Thomas died in 1813 leaving Betty a widow. Betty was free by servitude in 1815. The 1816 muster lists Betty as a widow at Sydney. In 1817 and 18 as a housekeeper, 1820 and 21 as single.

Betty died in January 1825, aged 50 at Pitt Town (she was recorded as she had arrived under her original name as Mitchell, the wife of John).
