Biography: Eleanor, one the oldest Lancastrian female convicts at aged 70, had a death sentence reprieved for uttering a counterfeit sixpence to Tabitha Dixon at Liverpool, whilst having almost 900 fake shillings and sixpences on her person. She had past convictions for the same crime.
She was transferred to Preston House of Correction in January 1818 as demolition work was beginning on the dungeon tower where female convicts awaiting transportation were kept.
Eleanor died at Preston’s HOC in early April 1820, aged about 75. She was buried in St John’s Churchyard in Preston.
