Biography: Alice had stolen a cloak. In October, the order came to Lancaster Castle that a ship was ready and Alice along with twelve other female convicts were provided with clothing and were sent to Gravesend, ready for boarding. The ship, however was a mixed ship and suffered much sickness and dysentery during the voyage with eight women dying onboard.
The records of Alice in New South Wales paint a very confused picture; Alice can be seen on the 1811 population muster, was given permission to return to Sydney from Newcastle penal colony via the Lady Nelson in May 1816 after an unspecified secondary crime and was recorded as a housekeeper at Sydney that same year 1816. She was single in 1817 and a settler’s wife in 1818 but by the time of the 1819 muster she had died, which is surely incorrect(!) as in 1820 she was down as being a dairy maid and in 1821 doing country service. Further records for now, are missing.
