Biography: Mary Ann stole four gowns and other articles which were the property of John Littler Borlace Fielding (a grocer) and one cloak, belonging to Margaret Grimshaw. She was born in Ireland but brought up at Leeds and was described whilst in Lancaster Castle as having a fair complexion with grey eyes and dark brown hair. Her husband lived at Leeds, and was a woollen cropper (shearer). They had two children. She had already had a six month sentence in the New Bailey.
Mary Ann suffered with fever and dysentery onboard ship with headaches, diarrhoea and back pain and was both bled of 16oz blood and purged.
In Australia, she married fellow convict James Turner (ship- Grenada 1) in 1827 who was a hospital overseer and died in December 1829 at Parramatta. She is buried at St Johns.
