Biography: Margaret, also known as Margaret Morton, stole linen. She had already been imprisoned twice before in 1796 and 1798 for stealing clothing and was described in a letter between judges as ‘a most notorious woman’ and ‘loose, idle and disorderly’ and not at all fit to be the object of royal mercy. She was the wife of George Edwards of Manchester. She was sent to Preston’s House Of Correction in February 1805 along with Ann Barlow, Margaret Jones and Peggy Marsh. They all received full pardons and were freed soon after.
