Biography: Sarah was a single woman of Manchester.
She was given 6 months hard labour shortly after arrival in the female factory on arrival in Sydney before being assigned to a Mrs Flynn as a servant but married James Bennett at Parramatta St John’s that year. The following year her new husband died and despite this, Sarah married George Bevan, who she was assigned to, later the same year. She was sent to the female factory for being drunk at work in 1826 but was still given a certificate of freedom in 1827, aged 29. She was described as 5ft 1 tall, fair-ruddy complexion, dark brown hair and grey eyes. They lived on Kent Street, along with George’s widowed mother. Sarah died in 1835
