Biography: Mary, a needleworker, was the wife of John Davies of Toxteth Park, Liverpool. She stole from Matthew Lyon.
In 1818 Mary received permission to marry convict William Warns (ship- Indefatigable) at Castlereagh though they did not get married at this time. In 1821, Mary was still single and had received a ticket of leave the previous year, though in 1822, by which time she was free by servitude, she was sent to the female factory for 6 months for stealing two flat irons and was described as a ‘bad character’. In 1823, Mary again received permission to marry William Warns though he was transferred to Port Macquarie at this time so again it did not happen. In 1828, Mary was serving a month in the Parramatta female factory. There is a potential death record for a Mary Davis this same year, though it is not clear if it is the same Mary.
