Biography: Mary was born in Manchester. She had stolen a flannel petticoat, shift and other articles from two different people. She used the alias Mary Martin. She was described as 5ft 4 with a fair complexion, grey eyes, brown hair, a short nose and ‘JMCD’ tattooed on her arm. She was employed as a piecer in cotton factory and her parents lived in Silk St. It was her second offence. Mary was sent to Millbank jail in London where she was described as an indifferent character. She was pardoned and discharged on the 19/09/1823.
