Biography: Ellen (or Eleanor) had been part of an criminal operation where male members of the Thomas family (and others) burgled the house of Thomas Robinson at Liverpool, taking a coffee biggin etc. which she and other Thomas women took in (see Mary Thomas). After arrival, Ellen was transferred to Hobart, Van Diemen’s Land. She worked as a housemaid. Ellen married convict George Rosindale/ Rosendale in October 1820 and they went on to have at least five children. After one month of marriage on the 16 November 1820, Ellen was caught stealing from the house of Mr Emmett. She received 1 month on bread & water and 2 month’s hard labour in punishment. A free certificate was issued 16 Oct 1848. Ellen died, aged 70 in 1868 from old age.
