Biography: Ann, a widow, was convicted of receiving stolen goods (a coat, a waistcoat and other items belonging to John Peak), taken from Ashton by a James Clegg (potentially her relative, also transported 1818 on the Isabella and several other men). Ann travelled with her 7 year old son James. They were put on board the Maria to await sailing on the 18 March. Ann suffered from sea sickness, insomnia and general debility onboard and was given cinchona and opium.

Ann and her son were sent to the female factory on arrival and she later worked as a housekeeper at Campbelltown. She was twice given permission to marry, firstly Thomas Stevenson in 1818 and Joseph Lapish in 1820 though neither marriage took place. Ann died in August 1828 at Campbelltown, aged around 60 and is buried at St Peter’s Anglican Church.
