Biography: Mary was a widow from Manchester. She was taken to Lancaster Castle as part of a group of 17 prisoners. She had stolen a pair of buckles. Mary was described by John Higgin, the Castle’s Governor along with Rebecca Lewin as ‘two of the most infamous women I ever had under my care and other prisoner’s behaviour has improved since I got quit of them’.
