Biography: Margaret was a single woman from Preston. Her crime is unknown though was most likely a theft of property belonging to John Gornall (a linen draper of Preston) along with Elizabeth Coulter and others. She had already served over a year and a half of her sentence before setting sail. At some point she marries a man with the surname Walker. She received her certificate of freedom in 1810. On the 1817 muster it states she is wife to J Henderson (unlikely to have married though). She is his ‘lodger’ on the 1822 muster. Margaret appears on the 1825 general muster roll where it shows her free by servitude and that she lived with William Ferriday at Wilberforce. Margaret married William in 1826 at which point she was 52 and him 30. They appear together on the 1828 census. Margaret died in 1836 at Sackville Reach.
