Biography: Margaret and her husband Edward were both convicted of uttering. They were housekeepers at Bolton and tried to pay a forged promissary notes for £1 1/ to the Huddersfield bank. She was born at Urswick, near Ulverston. She was described as having a very sallow complexion, dark brown eyes, dark brown hair, a little pitted from the small pox, had a broken vein on her right hand, was missing a front tooth lower jaw. They had reprieved death sentences. Edward was sent on the Minerva. Edward was her second husband and in her petition, whilst then aged 60, Margaret claimed Edward had led her astray and because of her age and ill health hoped to be able to reunite with her children. Margaret received a pardon and was discharged from Lancaster Castle in 19/4/1828.
