Biography: Mary (nee Nightingale) was the wife of painter and Wesleyan preacher (Pythagorus) Clayton Aspden of Preston. They had married at Preston in 1799 and had a son, also Clayton Aspden. Mary had stolen a pelisse (walking dress) from a Nancy Clayton who was possibly an in-law relative. By August 1818 she had been transferred to Preston House Of Correction. She was given a pardon and freed in November 1820. She passed away at Nile St, Preston, aged about 50 in May 1827.
